I create images not to understand them – but to feel them
My name is Monika Ciszek. I am a photographer, born in 1987 in Poland, and currently living and creating in England. Photography has been my passion and emotional outlet since a young age – a way of expressing myself that has accompanied me for most of my life. Although I haven’t attended an art school, I am self-taught, learning through experimentation, careful observation, and practice, constantly developing my own visual language.
I work under the name MonArt Photography, creating images using the ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) technique. This approach allows me to move beyond the boundaries of traditional photography and get closer to painterly expression. It enables me to create images that are not literal representations of reality but rather emotional reflections of it. I am fascinated by the moment – the idea that you can capture something that will soon disappear. Ephemeral beauty, preserved and given new life in another form. My work is atmospheric, often abstract, full of motion and light.
I draw inspiration primarily from impressionist painters – artists who searched for new forms of expression and a different way of seeing the world. I value their focus on emotion, texture, and their bold exploration of colour and light.
In the future, I hope to continue evolving – to explore new techniques, deepen my skills, and more boldly build bridges between photography and painting. What matters most to me is creating art that can be felt, not just seen – art that stirs something deep within, even if it cannot be put into words. Although I don't always start my work with a specific message in mind, I aim to evoke emotion. My paintings are an invitation to look deeper – to find stillness in motion, light in blur, meaning in ambiguity. I want viewers not only to pause, but also to allow themselves to feel beyond the obvious – to experience a moment of contemplation that may hold a different meaning for each of them.
My prints are produced on premium Hahnemühle fine art paper using the Giclée technique, which guarantees outstanding color fidelity, sharp detail, and museum-grade archival quality.
Thank you for your visit, and I hope my work resonates with you.
